Washington State Department of Transportation 1st Floor Conference Room 11018 NE 51st Circle Vancouver, Washington 98682 |
Vancouver, Washington -- The Vancouver region has moved into the 21st century of ITS (intelligent transportation systems). This high technology improves the operation and efficiency of our transportation system. Regional partners in the Vancouver Area Smart Trek initiative (or VAST) have developed a 20-year transportation system deployment plan that will:
- Reduce corridor congestion by rapidly detecting problems and having a coordinated response to traffic incidents.
- Reduce travel times, stops, and delays by adjusting traffic signals to changing traffic conditions.
- Alert motorists, commercial vehicles, and transit operators with real-time traffic congestion information.
- Provide real-time transit information to passengers.
The VAST Forum is a great opportunity to find out more about the VAST Program and projects that are happening in Clark County right now. ITS is working in other northwest regions to improve freeway operations and minimize the impact of traffic accidents. A national expert will speak on incident management. Speakers from Puget Sound and the Portland metropolitan area will talk about their ITS programs. Representatives of the VAST partner agencies will discuss current projects and plans for the Clark County region.
To find out more about the VAST Program please visit: www.vastrek.org. For more information about the Forum or to register go to: www.vastrek.org/forum/
The VAST Forum is sponsored by a coalition of the City of Vancouver, Clark County, City of Camas, C-TRAN, Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council, Washington Department of Transportation, Oregon Department of Transportation, and the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency.
