Vancouver, Washington -- Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council (RTC) will host a public meeting on Wednesday November 12 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Fort Vancouver Library, 1007 E. Mill Plain Boulevard, Vancouver. Information on amendment of the twenty-year Metropolitan Transportation Plan for the Clark County region will be provided. Public input will be sought at the meeting.

The Metropolitan Transportation Plan for Clark County (MTP) is a 20-year plan which identifies regional transportation needs in Clark County. The Plan was originally adopted in December 1994 and was subsequently updated in December, 1996. Since then, staff of Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), C-TRAN and local jurisdictions have been working together to review transportation needs to accommodate the forecast growth in the region. The 1997 Plan amendment will incorporate results from the most recent regional travel forecasting model and the list of identified twenty-year priority transportation needs for the region will be reviewed. Transportation needs must be identified in the Plan before projects can be eligible for federal funding.

The Metropolitan Transportation Plan is available for reference at the Fort Vancouver Library. Persons wishing to provide written comment on the region's twenty-year transportation needs may do so by November 12, 1997, to the following address: RTC, 1351 Officers' Row, Vancouver, WA 98661; (360) 737-6067; e-mail: info@rtc.wa.gov.
