Columbia River Gorge -- A public open house will be held on Wednesday, October 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Port of Hood River, 1000 East Port Marina Drive, Hood River, Oregon, to review and discuss the SR-35 Columbia River Crossing Type, Size, and Location (TS&L) Study. In this TS&L Study, data was collected and analyzed to develop several feasible bridge types. These bridge types were evaluated against criteria, resulting in the selection of a concrete segmental box girder bridge. As part of this study effort, the cost to replace the bridge and an artist rendering of the future bridge were developed. The public open house will provide opportunities to learn more about the findings and recommendations of the SR-35 Columbia River Crossing Type, Size, and Location Study.

This TS&L Study is a product of the previous SR-35 Columbia River Crossing Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and Feasibility Study, which recommended the future replacement of the current Columbia River Crossing between Hood River, Oregon and Bingen/White Salmon, Washington. The DEIS recommendation included a future bridge immediately west of the existing bridge. This bridge would be a two-lane fixed-span bridge (no lift) built to modern standards, with bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The existing bridge would be demolished after completion of the new bridge.

The TS&L Study, along with artist renderings will be available for review on the project website -- http://www.rtc.wa.gov/studies/sr35/ -- and at the public open house.
