Vancouver, Washington -- The Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council (RTC) will hold its Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at 4 p.m. at the Marshall House, 1301 Officers' Row, Vancouver, WA. One of the agenda items will be a proposed amendment to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (the MTP) for Clark County. All Board meetings are open to the public.

The MTP is the blueprint for Clark County's transportation future. The Plan takes a twenty-year look at regional transportation needs and resources available to make transportation improvements. Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), C-TRAN and local jurisdictions work together to review transportation needs to support the region's forecast growth. The Plan contains results from the most recent regional travel forecast model and lists identified twenty-year priority transportation projects for the region. Transportation needs must be identified in the Plan before projects can be eligible for federal funding.

The RTC Board December meeting agenda and current MTP, adopted in October, 1999, can be viewed at RTC's web site at http://www.rtc.wa.gov. Further information is available by calling Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council at (360) 397-6067.
